Attorney Larry J. Mayer earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1992 from Widener Univ. School of Law, Delaware, with undergraduate education in Aeronautical Science and Business Administration – Finance. He worked in general aviation as a commercial pilot prior to law school. Admitted to practice law in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Colorado, his career includes internships with the Civil Division of the US Dept. of Justice and the Chief Counsel’s office for the Federal Aviation Administration. He also served as a litigation attorney in Philadelphia and Denver law firms. Since establishing his own practice in Colorado in 1996, and in Virginia in 2002, his practice has diversified to include commercial and business law, estate planning, securities trading, and family law. He combined his aviation and legal experience in technical litigation support for several air crash cases, as well as aircraft transactions and US registration for domestic and foreign aircraft owners. He is actively engaged in volunteer service for the Civil Air Patrol, the US Air Force Auxiliary, in which he serves as the legal officer for the Virginia Wing. Mr. Mayer’s practice serves Frederick, Shenandoah and Warren Counties in areas of contract disputes, business formation and counsel, transactions, estate planning, wills, trusts, guardianship, adoptions, and family law. He has served as a guardian ad litem for more than ten years in representing the interests of over five hundred minor children in matters of abuse & neglect, or contentious custody disputes. His broad business client base includes two Midwest banks, numerous national aircraft operators, and many small local business operators. Representations have ranged from multi-million dollar corporate jets transactions to local business lease agreements. Additionally, he has established and maintained banking and institutional investment advisor relationships for a Colorado-based securities trading firm since 1996.
